This Larger Mask came directly out of the Schneider Museum of Art in southern Oregon. ThisFascinating Woven Reed Mask originates from Sepik New Guinea, Wosera Area. The Designs of this hand wovenface represent the Ancestor Images. Natural Organic colorswere used to decorate the maskwhich addto the Charm of this Unique Item!
These masks are worn by the tribal people during their rituals, and are also hung on dwellings to represent their ancestors during and after the Yam Harvest Festival.This Mask is a Museum Quality Item, NOT a Piece of Tourist Souvenir Junk! This came directly from the Schneider Museum of Art in southern Oregon. Since it left the Schneider Museum it has been in our private collection for approx. 30+ years.As you can see from the images, this is in Nice Condition for its age (circa 1920\'s, 1930\'s) withexpectedsigns of use and wearalongsome edge areas.
