Condition & DescriptionSize: The wooden coat of arms measures 2\'4\" across at it\'s widest point. And 2\' 8\" at its tallest. Thickness of the base wood (not including the middle coat of arms) varies from 2+/12\" at the crown, 2\" eagles head to 1+1/4\" at the bottom.
The swords measures 3\'3\" and 3\'5\" long. The wooden coat of arms is in excellent condition. No breaks or cracks with a uniform patina and coloring. There are a few occasional small areas where the stain has rubbed off exposing the woods true color, but as you can see from the pics very few and hardly noticeable. The only thing that I see its lacking is there is a round hole at the very top of the crown, probably where a cross would have been inserted, but it is not visible if hung on the wall at eye level. The swords do show some imperfections. As you can see from the pics the chrome has some pitting / flaking with some surface rust showing through at those areas. (see pics). Please forgive the dark areas in the photos they do not exist just my poor camera work. The first pic gives a good representation of coloring of the swords. They were designed so that a brass hue would go down the 1st third of the way and the rest is silver colored (stainless steel look). These are designed after Spanish medieval swords and are marked MADE IN SPAIN, TOLEDO, and COPIA DE LA ESPADA DEL CID SIGLO-X1. They are actually in good shape structually with some typical cosmetic imperfections typically found on this kind of sword with this kind of aging. The detail is fantastic, much better than most of the coat of arms that I have seen. This is a great piece.
