Industrial Vtg Toledo Drafting Chair
I have up for sale a wonderful True Vintage circa 1920s - 40s vintage original UHL Art Steel - Toledo Metal Furniture co Drafting Stool / Chair with adjustable height and swivel seat. This is a Great Looking stool / chair and is structurally sound and sturdy. The frame is made of steel , has a laminated seat and leather backrest which I believe could be the factory original but is not what is normally found . It may a very early original or simply retro-fitted using a very old headrest, I am just not sure. I know Toledo made chair and stools with leather seats and backrests as I have one in my collection. The seat swivels and adjusts in height with the easy to use mechanism located under the seat.
The is no manufacturer markings that I see but the chair was without question made by Toledo. Not sure of the exact age but believe it to be from the 20s - 40s. With that said I am not an expert , what I do know for sure - is that its very old and not a reproduction.Fabulous shape for its age. The black finish is very good to excellent , has only light modest wear. The leather backrest has a few spots of wear the leather and remnants of adhesive from a sticker on both the front and back. There is a little light spot on the back where I tried to clean the adhesive residue but quite when I seen the color lightening.
The seat is in great shape and measures approx 16\" across and 14\" front to back. In the lowest position it measures approx 25\" from the ground to the top of the seat - and when in the highest position approx 30\". In its lowest position , the top metal part for the backrest measures approx 36\". The backrest measures approx 14-1/4\" wide. The circular footrest measures approx 16\" in diameter. The chair weighs roughly 21 lbs.
There is an old weld repair on the underside of the seat as shown in the pics, cosmetic but you do not see it unless you are looking from underneath.
I will remove the backrest and metal support pieces, You will have to reassemble once you receive the chair.
ONLY THROW OUT THE BOXES AND PACKAGING AFTER YOU HAVE INSPECTED THE ITEM OR ITEMS AND FIND NO DAMAGE other than what may be noted in the condition report or shown in the pics.
IN THE RARE EVENT YOU RECEIVED THE ITEM AND IT IS DAMAGED -CONTACT ME ASAP - KEEP THE BOX AND ALL PACKAGING MATERIALS JUST AS THE ITEM ARRIVED AS THEY WOULD BE NEEDED TO HELP PROCESS THE INSURANCE CLAIM. YOU WOULD BE REQUIRED TO HELP WITH THE INSURANCE CLAIM . SAVE THE BOX AND ALL PACKAGING ,PICS OF THE OUTER BOX AND INNER BOX , AND OF THE DAMAGED ITEM WOULD BE REQUIRED. WITHOUT THESE PICS, YOU WILL NOT GET A REFUND IF I CAN NOT PROCESS THE CLAIM - YOUR HELP IS REQUIRED. THIS IS PART OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITY WHEN IT COMES TO DAMAGE. I PACKAGE TO THE VERY BEST OF MY ABILITIES BUT SOMETIMES THINGS HAPPEN THAT ARE OUT OF OUR CONTROL.
