OLD JAPANESE TANTO DAGGER IN SIRA SAYA:

This is an example of a signed Japanese Knife Tanto in sira saya. It is mounted with an old hand-forged blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 10 1/4 inches in length and from tip to tip measures 15 1/16 inches in length. The blade shows to have received several polishings throughout the years, nevertheless still wears a beautiful actively wavy temper line which is still nicely visible on either side. Unfortunately, this blade DOES HAVE A HAGIRE (hairline crack) in the very center of the cutting edge. The tang wears one hole and is signed with two characters on one side which translates to \"Tada Hiro\" and is fitted with a lovely gilded double habaki. The wooden storage housing (sira saya) remains in wonderfully clean and serviceable condition. Overall the outer housing measures 16 3/4 inches in length.
