The Lee Edaakie\"Knifewing\" Bolo Tie

This wonderfulBolo Tiewas made by the famous and talented Zuni artist Lee Edaakie. He became active in producing jewelryin the early 30\'s.He is perhaps more famous for his clusterwork jewelry.According to Toshio Sei, who has researched Lee Edaakie most recently (see reference below), this was a collaborative piece done with a Navajo silversmith. This particular Bolo looks identical to one shown on page 76 of hs new book (see***below). He agrees that Lee was, \"One of the best inlay as well as mosaic overlay artists in Zuni jewelry history\". I\'ve traded several of these \"Collaborative\" pieces and they are quite popular. I\'ve sold them to collectors from NYC to Tokyo. And, I have others availablehere on in my store. As anotedZuni artist, these iconic Bolos are featured in several high end galleries and collectionsand many of the major Native Jewelry catalogs and reference books as may be referenced below.

This isguaranteed to be Sterling Silver and authentic. TheBolo Tips are also Sterling Silver. I have found no defects like cracked or loose stones, noticable scratches, etc. in the pendant. One of the Bolo Tips has a dent it it and is slightly out of alignment. The braided black leather bolo cord is ingood condition andtheold style artist made \"Friction Clasp\" is fine. Lots of tarnishPatina! I am assuming thatEdaakie made this before the1957 introduction of the C-31 Bennett Clasp.I believe that you will be pleased!

The workmanship is exceptional and fine. It features achannel inlay pattern of Turquoise used to form the body of the Knifewing figure. The Turquoise is very smooth and looks harder than The Blue Gem that he may have typiclally used. TheBolo is built up on a Sterling Silverbase that has pieces of Turquoise set tightlyinto the intricateSterling Silver frame. I love theproportions of the Knifewing, the filework on the edges of the Knifewing wings, and the classic form of the figure. In Zuni belief, these wings would have been made of Flint. It isvery smoothwhen you run your finger across thefront of the bolo. This is a highly desireable and magical museum quality piece. This Lee Edaakie Bolo might be the right one for you...

This amazing Bolo Tie isfull of character and will be immediatly recognized by many people that know quality collectable Native jewelry. When you take a look at the pictures, please inspect the bolo pendant carefully for the fine detail in both design and execution. Your friendsmay compliment you and your taste in Zuni Jewelry.

Thanks!
