Very fine craftsmanship

A very nice bowl from the Ramu river area of Papua New Guinea. Clearly early to mid 20th century, this piece comes out of an Australian collection. Well used, the bowl has one figural carving on each end to be used as the handles. An excellent, authentic piece. 16 inches long, 8 inches wide, 3 inches deep.

This dish has a blackencrusted patina from generations of use. The ends have classic crocodile andspirit face terminals. Great shape collected from Lower Ramu,Papua New Guinea

Please look at thephotos carefully, there is a crack on the edge of the bowl about 1 3/4” long.
