Please beaware that all of our drawings that are for sale on are removed fromeither frame or mat, or both, for archival reasons and to reduce shipping fees.A lot of these mats were very old and carried acidic qualities that werepotentially damaging to the works. Drawings that were matted in paper such asthis are de-acidified in alkali blankets prior to sale and should be preparedto go another 500 years. We are prepared to make suggestions for archivalstorage and framing, but we do not include these items unless they are noted inthe description. For sale is a 17th C sketch/study of 3 heads and an angel done in pen and ink and black chalk. The chalk drawing is a study of an angel for a pendentive. The other heads are rendered in iron gall ink and pen. The drawing measures 18 x 21 cm and is in very good condition. It has some surface dirt that has been rubbed somewhat but does not detract from the overall image. The paper carries no watermark and the collectors marks are: Chales Eggiman, Geneve 1863 and W Schrott, Innsbruck 1840. This is a very interesting drawing done on fairly heavy paper and as such should make a very nice display.
