Old New Guinea figurative spear tip, Schouten Islands, long-nosed ancestral spirit face carved into the shaft of a war spear. The ancestral spirit ensured the spear flew true to its intended target--an enemy. Late 19th/early 20th century. Black palm wood. Piece comes nicely mounted on custom made stand.
