For sale a beautifull and LARGE Polynesian or Maori fishhook. I have seen (b/w photos) of these from as well as Tahiti but also from Maori, New Zealand. Not sure about the specific characteristics of each. The pro-collectors will know. Large wood hook and mopshell inset of hook-end, fastened with braided fiber, also at the straight end; there is also a knob at the side carved almost covered by the string. Estimated 1850-1900 (or earlier).

Condition;excellent (tiny hole in wood of \'elbow\'; old fastening to wall?).Measures;L.26x W.10.5cm
