What we have here is a Fantastic Beautiful Old Peru Highland Quechuan Culture, town Macusani, Handmade Textile Traditional Hat Deaccessioned from the California Academy of Sciences with museum collection number 514-47... laying flat measures 18 inches by 14 1/2 inches. Stand not included. Collected pre 1979 and had age when collected. Rare item to . Just look at the wonderful details of this traditional hat once belonging to a well established museum collection. Made of sheep wool, cotton, rayon &/or silk, and woven metal. The woven metal bordering the black rim adds dramatically to the character of this piece. This is a lovely traditional item with a good presence. Used condition, the odd pulled fiber, fading, tears, wear, stains, soiling and some curling as expected. I do not know the exact age, collected pre 1979 and shows age so may be a fair bit older, please look at photos and you determine the age... look at the photos andyou decide to your best judgment the condition and what this is worth.
