Old War Axe - German Trade Axe - Solomon Islands 1950's:

This old war axe has a long wooden handle with a German made and stamped trade axe held to the top and some black western paint just under where it is held. I was told by the previous owner that it originated from the Solomon Islands and the wood on the shaft looks similar to clubs from this area. The axe is loosely secure to the shaft and could do with some form of fixing. There is some writing in pen to the shaft - see third pic. It measures 78cm in height and axe head 14cm across.
