Old Wild West Bookends Ray E Dodge Spelter Bronze Wagon Wheel Skull Vtg 1950s:

You\'re offerding on a cool western-themed pair of vintage spelter bronze bookends manufactured by Dodge Inc - they are 3 1/2\" wide, 5\" tall with a front-to-back depth of 3 1/2\", combined weight of about 4 1/2 lbs - featuring a kind of wild west design of a wagon wheel and a cow skull surrounded by cactus. The felt is missing from the bottom of one of them, but the other is still felted and carries the maker\'s label - \"Created and Made in the West by Dodge, Inc. - A Ray E. Dodge Factory\". Ray E. Dodge got his start manufacturing bookends and other white metal consumer products in the 1920s - of such quality that in 1930 he was chosen to manufacture the first OSCAR awards, an honor the company held into the 1980s. I\'m guessing these bookends to be from the height of the Western craze, probably 1940s or 1950s vintage.
