This is for a beautiful and very old antique hand fan, most likely brought back from a trip made to Asia in and around 1900. Grandfather did travel to Asia back then and would bring back souvenirs for Grandmother. I believe one could say the style is Victorian from that time. I have been told by antique fan experts that the stays and guards are made of ox bone, not ivory and not wood, and the leaves are silk gauze with sewn on sequins. It is very fragile and you can see in the photos that the leaf in the middle is torn. I am told cleaning would only make it worse so I am selling AS IS. There are 16 stays and 2 carved guards. Measures 9.5 inches long when closed up. When spread out measures about 18 inches across. Perhaps you can repair or remove parts for other uses. If you frame in a shadow box, it may hold up as is. A wonderful old fan to add to your collection. Please ask questions before offerding if you have any concerns about the condition or if you think it is not described correctly (I am not a fan expert). To have package insured and with tracking I can send in a flat rate padded envelope. First class mail will not be insured.
