This item is an old Polish \'Ars Christiana\' heavy 2-3/4x3-1/2 inch, .800 silver content Christian religous medallion, in it\'s original \'Ars Christiana\' case, with the medalion in excellent overall condition. The medallion is back marked with what apparently is the Ars Christiana company makers mark (\'ACh\'), and it is also back marked with the ca. 1920 Polish .800 silver content mark (reads, \'3\', followed by a womans head in profile). This .800 silver content mark is extremely small, and we have tried to photograph it numerous times, and we have posted the best images here with the listing. Wish we could have done better, but this is the best we could do given the extemely small nature of the mark. The silver work on the medallion is very delicate, and appears to be hand done, and the closest I can define that handwork is what we here in the states would call \'bright cut\', but that is not a precise description, because this work does not quite have the same 3 dimensional look that our old bright-cut silver has. We purchased the medallion at a Midwest estate sale, where the saleeer described the estate as coming from Chicago, and the .800 silver content mark we found on the World silver marks under Poland, with that mark dated to ca. 1920, right after the end of WWI. The medallion measures 3-1/2 inches from top to bottom, and about 2-3/4 inches from side to side; it weighs exactly 1.45 troy ounces, or 45.2 grams, on our jewelry scale. The medallion was very tarnished when we brought it home from the sale, and we have carefully polished it to what you see in the attached images, but it could still take a little more TLC to bring out it\'s true beauty. The medallion is obviously an early 1900\'s religous ornament, with what appears to be Mother Mary in the center, but we have no other information on either the ornament or it\'s history.
