From my personal collection, a vintage Hopi pottery bowl attributed to Nampeyo. Hand coiled in the type of clay from the Hopi mesas that fires to that distinctive warm yellow tone, with a rounded base and hanging lug, stone polished, and decorated with a four directions design motif in dark brown vegetal paint, with fire clouds that prove the piece was traditionally pit fired. Measures 2-1/4 inches high by 7 inches diameter. Dates to the early 20th century, circa 1900-1910, condition is very good to excellent for the age,no cracks or chips, paint wear as shown, check out the photos, the soup can is shown so you can get an idea of the size. Attributed to Nampeyo by Kania-Ferrin Gallery in Santa Fe, based on manufacture, it has that extra coil at the rim that has been identified as a characteristic of pottery made by Nampeyo, as described in the Blair and Kramer texts on Nampeyo pottery. Invoice from gallery stating \"Hopi bowl by Nampeyo\" will be included with the piece. Would make a great addition to any pueblo pottery collection.
