Original 1960\'s French MONOPOLY Game

Made in France

The box and board are a textured orange/brown color. Each has a gold label with brown printing:

MONOPOLY(r)

Miro

COMPANY

Images of a train flank either side of the Miro Company marking. They are thicker than the train images on American games.

The board has a black fabric binding and shows virtually no wear except a white crease line along the fold on the inside. Very tight, hardly looks used at all.

The box has more wear especially at the corners. Please look at allimages before offerding.

The inside of the board has the traditional MONOPOLY across the center without the (r) marking. Underneath it says:

COPYRIGHT 1935, 1946, 1961 BY PARKER BROTHERS USA   MARQUE ET MODELE - TOUS DROITS RESERVES

Above BOUL. DE BELLEVILLE it says PRINTED IN FRANCE

Above AVENUE DE LA REPUBLIQUE it says MIRO COMPANY

With the exception of being in French, all spaces have the same artwork as tradional American sets of the time. Blue CAISSE DE COMMUNAUTE (Community Chest), black railroads, etc.

Both CHANCE (blue) and CAISSE DE COMMUNAUTE (pink) cards have a pattern of train silhoutees and a more portly than normal Rich Uncle Bags silhouttes.

Tokens are six different color basic plastic pawns.

There are 13 red plastic hotels and 33 green plastic houses. They are a different mold and much softer than their American counterparts.

Dice are blue with rounded corners and white pips.

There is significantly more money than in any normal pre-1970\'s set I have ever seen. All money is in very good condition. Each has images of a train, a house, and says PAT. APP. FOR No 3796-36

All property cards, untility cards, and railroad cards are present and in excellent condition.

This set comes with very strong plastic inserts running the length of the box. There is a dark green nakers tray with seven slots for cash. On the top left there is an impression of three dice and two houses. The center has MONOPOLY(r) and the right a portly Rich Uncle Penny Bags flanked by two American style trains. The second tray is a cream color with seven sections for other parts.

You also get the original instructions, in French of course, and 4 cards advertising other Miro Company games. From what I can tell, they are also French editions of Parker Brothers games.
