Up for your consideration is this original 1863, Ames, United States Military cutlass sword with original leather scabbard. This beautiful piece still has the TIP, braided wire on grip and all the rivets on the scabbard. I did notice the blade had been sharpened as seen in the photographs.The Handle Markings Are: 2M 142The Blade Marking Are: U.S. D.R. 1863 (the year is very worn)Sword Overall Length: 31-3/4\"Sword Blade Length: 25-7/8\"NOTE: The other side of the blade no longer shows the maker brand marks and appears to be worn-away.Sword shows the expected surface (minor) pitting and rust from age and storage as seen in the photographs. However, despite it\'s age, it appears this beautiful sword is, in my personal, non-professional opinion, in good condition for a military edged weapon from the Civil War era.
