DESCRIPTION:

Iconic, vintage lounge chair in Danish Modern style.

Designed 1958 by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen. Fiberglass reinforced polyurethane foam shell. Cast aluminum 4 star base with 360 degree rotation. Plastic glides.

This chair\'s upholstery and cushioning were in poor condition and have been removed (the chair is upholstery ready). Otherwise this chair is all original.

Underside base signed in casting \"520015\", \"FH\" logo and \"Made in Denmark\".

Label on base: \"Made in Denmark - 7306 - By Fritz Hansen\" with \"FH\" and Danish Control logos.

This example early 1970s I believe (\"7306\" may indicate June 1973 production but I am not sure). Denmark.

All sides of the chair are represented in the photos. Although I photographed the chair out doors this chair has always been housed in doors in a climate controlled Environment.

I have the mate to this chair in identical condition available and I will be listing it in the next few weeks (see the final photo).

CONDITION:

As you can see this chair has had its upholstery and cushioning removed due to their poor condition. The chair is upholstery ready.

The appearance of this chair is typical of egg chairs that have had their upholstery and cushioning removed. The crude-looking, pock-marked surface with irregular/rough/uneven texture and variegated color is original/typical.

As you can see there are scattered staple holes in the surface (primarily confined to the backside edge) but all staples have been carefully removed. There are typical minor traces of glue and dried foam here and there primarily along the back edge.

(Keep in mind that any vintage egg chair of this age will require reupholstery due to hardening and powdering of the urethane foam cushioning -- regardless of the condition of the leather or fabric. With professional reupholstery this egg form will display as new.)

Otherwise this chair is in very good, all original condition. No damages. No significant wear. No restorations.

No missing parts. No replaced or non original parts.

No chips, cracks, breaks, dents, gouges. No significant scuffs or scratches. No structural issues of any kind. No corrosion or pitting to the base. No significant oxidation.

The base exhibits untouched old patina as found with some typical age-related oxidation and no evidence of polishing. There is some typical minor use-related wear to the base including scattered light scratches, scattered small edge dings, etc. Nothing significant or terribly conspicuous. The aluminum can be polished bright if so desired.

All glides are intact with typical minor wear.

The swivel mechanism functions smoothly as designed with no drag, noise or other issues.

Generally clean as found.
