Clothing account (sheet size: 15 x 10 1/4 inches), part printed but mostly manuscript, the firstpage headed “The United States In Account with Franklin A. Clewell of F Company,119th Regiment of Penna. Voll.on Account of Clothing during his enlistment; the money value of each issuebeing hereby acknowledged. Enlisted at Philadelphiaon the Twenty ninth day of August 1862.”

Individual entries are dated from 30 August 1862 to 9January 1864, with some details of what was issued and the appropriate ‘moneyvalue’ given for each transaction.

The document has been signed 18 times by Private Clewell,and has been witnessed by various witnesses (1 time by Captain William W. Wagner;2 by 1st Lieut. Edwin A. Landell; 7 by Lieut. William A. Wiedersheim; 3 by 2nd Lieut. Alfred Hannings; 3by Sgt. John F. Sparks; twice illegibly).

The verso offers a similar record for Private Lewis J.Dunlap, covering the period 17th August 1862 – 6thDecember 1864.
