Up forsale is an ORIGINAL 4-PANEL PAGE pencil/pen & ink drawing froma comic book depicting Vikings

FRAMED:18” x 13 ¼”

FOURPANELS: 12” x 7 ¾”

EACHPANEL: 5 ¾” x 3 ½”

Alittle background on this piece:

Awhile backduring a day of thrift shopping I lucked upon this framed original page [fourpanels on the page]. The two Vikingswere handsome and half-naked so I figured ‘what-the-hell” and I bought it. Then I got curious as to whether it was froma known comic book and tried to do some research. I was hoping to find the comic book it camefrom and purchase a copy so that I would have the source of my original artworkbut after much searching on the internet I hit a dead end, so I enlisted helpfrom my friends on Facebook. Two friendsknew people who were owners of comic book stores and/or comic artists. I sent them photos of the page and theresponses I got back consisted of the following:

…”thisis an interesting piece but a real needle in a haystack to try and place. If it is originally for a Spanish languagecomic, then it\'s out of my depth. I don\'t recognize the artist though thestyle is reminiscent of a certain school…”

“…Iran it by some expert friends and no one came up with anything except that weall agree that there is likely more info on the art itself. One theory floated, based on the extra inkyou are noticing around the word balloons, is that it was an American comic andthe ink is covering up the English word balloons. The shadingaround that first ‘Al Oirte Hablar’ does seem to suggest that it is not part ofthe original art…”

“…afriend who speaks Spanish felt the writing seemed more like a translation ofEnglish than what one would write in Spanish…”

“…ifit is American it\'s more likely from the 70’s-80’s when Conan was very popularand there was a black and white Conan magazine being published. Aroundthat there were many imitators…”

So itappears that I am no further along in finding out who the artist is or thepublication that it is from than when I started. I could remove the artwork from the frame andsee if there are any clues on the artwork such as the artist’s name/publicationname/English dialogue in the word balloons, but then I would have to bring itto a framer to put back together [in the attached photo you’ll see that theback has paper attached/glued around the frame to keep the picture in place] andthat’s an expense I’m not interested in incurring.

So thereyou have it. I’ve put this piece up on becauseI decided it’s time to make room for other pieces of artwork and was hopingthat it would be of interest to someone in either the comic book or artcommunity.

Here iswhat we BELIEVE to know about the artwork:

~ Originally drawn during the 1970’s or1980’s

~ Possibly a page from an English language comicthatwas recycled forthe Spanish market

~ Unknown artist/publication; might be figuredout if artwork is removed from frame

PLEASE NOTE: There areseveral deep scratches on the frame which I tried to show as best as possiblebut I admit it is hard to see in the photos. They were very pronounced when I bought the artwork [it was scratched sodeep in places that the black was rubbed off] and I used my limited expertiseto repair it as best as I could. I mustsay that when hanging on the wall it is hardly noticeable, and if you had seenthe scratches before I did the repair you wouldn’t believe how well the repairjob came out. I am pointing this out since I will NOT be accepting returns due tothe scratches on the frame.

Please contact me BEFORE offerding with any questions or ifadditional photos are wanted since I will NOT be accepting returns on thisartwork.

THANKS FOR LOOKING AND HAPPY offerDING!!
