Original large Dodge Brothers wingedtrunk badge emblem insignia nameplate. The Dodge Brothers started building cars in 1914 in Detroit. The company was purchased by Walter P. Chrysler in 1928 and is still around today. Online research indicates this type of emblem was used from 1935 to 1938but I do not know the exact year, model, or application for this example. Badges like these were made using the champleve or guilloche process of heat bonding melted glass to a copper base which was then plated. 7 15/16\" wide by 1 13/16\" high,translucent brown, goldand black enamel withchrome plating. No curves, designed to fit on a flat surface. Maker\'s mark\"MADE IN U.S.A. D.L. AULD CO. COLUMBUS, O.\" on back. Good to very good used condition, no bends, dents, or cracks, a few scratches, all brown and black enamel is intact and excellentwitha fewstress cracks. All gold enamel in the center shield is missing and has been replaced with reflective gold paint, this looks rough close up but not bad from a foot away.Original plating is in very good shape with slight wear and pitting,all three mountingstudsare intact and useable.
