Jean Claude Gaugy was born in 1944 in France, just escaping a bullet that flew into the hospital at the end of the German occupation.

At age 5 he visited his grandfather weekly to get critiques on his drawings, and his grandfather taught him the art of sculpting andwood carving.

Gaugy comes from a long familyancestryexpanding 400 yearsof fine artists and sculptors.

At age 14 he ran away from home and worked as a portraitist in a fine Club in Paris. It was there he was discovered by Salvadore Dali who offered him aone-man showing.

Dalipaved the way formany more exhibitions, and in 1966 Gaugy came to America.

Gaugy\'s paintings hang in museums all over the world, as well as in many private collections.

This painting entitled, \"Femme de Fantaisie\" is alargeoil on carved board, and wascreated by Gaugyin 1985 at his Los Gatos Studio.
