Original Thomas Stevens made silk woven picture, remounted. The original title was \"Ecce Homo\" - this rare version has purple robes (usually they are red)

One of several Stevengraphs or stevengraph like silks I am listing this week - do have a look at the others (including the plain background version)

The picture size with the mount (matt) is approximately 6.5 x 8.5 inches (silk weaving size 2.5 x 4 inches)

Date: 1890s - Rarity is 6 stars (out of 8 max)

The wordStevengraph was coined by Thomas Stevens of Coventry, England who adapted his jacquard looms to produce multi-coloured images in pure silk. Silk bookmarks were produced fromthe early 1860s and the pictures and portraits from 1879. Fewer and fewer are appearing for sale these days so they are becoming quite scarce. Mr Stevens had many rivals but hisweavings are considered to bethe best.

Condition - As seen in the images the colours are vibrant - near mint condition. The mount is modern.
