This original large and impressive Art Deco bronzed metal, alabasterx and opal glass lady lamp was made in France in about 1930. It is modelled as a graceful and elegant Art Deco lady holding the opal white glass shade aloft above her head.

It measures 24 inches in total and is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. It has a good original cold painted finish with just normal signs of wear and usage. There are a few scuffs and nibbles to the alabaster but nothing glaring or unsightly. It has been rewired and is PAT tested to conform with UK standards.

Background information: In the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods there were three main centres for artistic bronzes sculpture in Europe. Paris was a Mecca for artists from throughout Europe with Demetre Chiparus perhaps the master. Other notable Parisian artists included Philippe, Bouraine and Le Faguays. In Vienna, Austria Joseph Lorenzl Bruno Zach and Franz Bergman were the leading lights whilst in Berlin Ferdinand Preiss and Otto Poertzel shared a studio and produced figures of outstanding artistic merit and quality.
