WW2 slings were often reissuedand treated for use in damp locations, these were then MRT stamped and dated for that year

A good way to check USGI slings from the fakes is to look at the back side of the female snap, it should be a raised embossed washer not flat, this gives it strength. On the flat side of the male snap you want to see the\"mud ring\",it should look nicely finished, the fakes look crudely done.Also on a used USGI sling you should see some wear on the webbing from thesteel connecting the webbing when installed.
