Paul Lambert was born in 1910. This popular French artist paints in a bold, simple technique, that belongs to the modern school of art. His painting of French scenes are done with authority and accuracy. And his coloring and shading are unique. Lambert\'s work is well recognized and he has received numerous awards.
Michele Carolla, director of European Paintings and Decorative Arts for Neal sale Co., said \"he regularly illustrated images of life in Paris, especially that of the artist community of Montmartre, where he probably lived. He employed a cool palette combined with a very precise dark line to capture the vitality of the city. There is a pleasing quality to his work.\"The scene is a famous flower stand and the location in written in French in pencil on the back. (See photo).I believe this is oil on canvas, but may be ink and gouache.
The work is large. The image itself measures 15\" X 32\" and the frame 24\" X 40\".
The work is in very good vintage condition! There are a few minor issues that are barely noticeable from the front. From the back, one can see that the canvas must have been pierced by a small nail and that there is a small area of paint loss. This is hard to see from the front. There is a slight drip on the front that could probably be removed by cleaning.
This work will be packed, shipped, and insured by UPS. They are expensive but very dependable.It will probably cost around $200.00 to ship, but I will absorb that cost. If you can pick it up here in Dayton, OH, I will refund the $200.00.
