Original WW1 & WW2 German Fighting Knife, TrenchDagger!!!!

This knife was Made in Germany in the German State of Prussia. The GermanState of Prussia was Taken from Germany after the War and is now Part of the Current Country of Poland, still to this day.

Anything thatis maker marked, Made in Prussia during or before WW2 is rare and highly sought after by collectors!

Made for Combat use in the First World War, Many of the these Knives were then Passed on and Used Again in WW2 and this is what we have here. The Blade is Hardened Carbonsteel and has a full tang. At the Start of the Second World War, Soldiers used them for Combat use and for Utility Purposes. On the Ricosso you will Notice the Stamps, are hard to see on the Fighting knife. This Particular knife has seen allot of use.

Over all Length - Approx.10 3/8inches

Mostof the time, the Soldiers that carried theseFighting knives formed the Handle for himself to fit his own Hand. He could put grooves in the Handle or form the Handle to his hand. This handlewhen it was made new, had a Crown badge of the Kaiser in the center of the Handle, That is now gone.The Crown can be replaced easily,as the 2 prong holes in the handle are free of obstruction.

In any case the Handle is untouched from the War. At the bottom of the Handle there is a flattened spot where the German soldier used the knife to pound something., Please see the photos. Everything to the fighting Knife is very tight, there are No loose Parts.

Also,Most of the timeyou will see on these type of Knives,the Blade will be cut down by the Soldier himselfto a specific shape, this was very common to see..This Knife, is one of those that has been cut down and sharpened by the German Soldier himself, since the time of WW2 this Knife remains the same just as he left is many decades ago!

I find that to be very rare. Its one of the rare times that you will ever be able to hold an item, that was actually used in War time, close combat. 9 times out of 10, these blades are formed and cut down by the soldiers own personal preference. This was aGerman SoldiersPersonal Fighting Knifeand this washis Personal Preference.

I used a couple different Collectors reference books to acquire the information about the Fighting knife. Knowledge is the key to it all. This is a Very Personal Piece, to be able to hold onto an item such as this one, that was used daily by a Soldier in WW2 is Amazing.

The Dagger as a whole is nice a tight. No Blade movement - Full tang, the Grips are solid - Black Brown Hard wood. it is in very solid condition. please see the photos.

This is a Combat knife and was Used !!!, it was usedin the most of horrible circumstances. Some wear and tear is to be expected. When a War time Fighting knife has the Condition like this one does, you know it has been there, it has been used, it was apersonal item to the Soldiers that fought in Battle.It just doesn\'t get any better than that.
