Originalearly brass Colt\'s Patent bullet mold for the 1849 Pocket Model revolver. The caliber is.31 with 2 cavities, ball and conical bullet. This is the early type mold, circa1850-53, that was made without the iron sprue cutter which came out in 1854. According to Robin Rapley\'s excellent booktitled \"Colt Accoutrements 1834-1911\", he identifies this as the earlymold for the 1849 Colt Pocket Revolver.These molds were made with a slightly larger funnel on the top of theblock and had the addition of a grease groove for the conical bullet cavity. This mold is in very good condition just showing its ageand the usual use marks. The hinge operates very smoothly and the mold wouldcast great bullets if used today. It ismarked with COLTS PATENT on the top near the hinge and has the Colt’s inspectorsinitial S near the conical bullet pour hole.
Thisis a nice mold that has seen use but is still very functional and would lookgreat in a cased set.
