- Here is an Orville Wright hand written signed check. Along with his brother Wilbur, Orville Wright was credited with inventing and building the world\'s first successful airplane. They also created the first controlled, powered and sustained heavier than air human flight on December 17, 1903. Although not the first to build and fly experimental aircraft, the Wright brothers were the first to invent aircraft controls that made fixed-wing powered flight possible. This check was signed by the younger of the two brothers, Orville Wright from Fourth National Bank of Dayton, Ohio on June 7th, 1918. This check was written for $3.00 to Brentano\'s Book Store. This check is in excellent condition with a crease 1 1/2 inches off the right side of the check from where it was folded. This check measures 8.5 inches long by 3 inches wide.
