For your consideration a pair of solid silver English hallmarked jam or preserve spoons that date to the 1930\'s. They are contained in what appears to be the original hard presentation case.
Please view the pictures above as they hopefully show all in detail.The peculiar thing is the spoons are not a perfect match. The engraved design is slightly different, and although the date/assay marks are the same, the makers marks differ in style, albeit with the same letters. So both have the makers mark \'WSS&Co\', relating to W S savage & Co in one instance, the other mark I can only attribute to \'WSS&Co\'. This information is gleaned from the excellent website \'Silvermakersmarks\'. Both further hallmarked with the crown for Sheffield, the lion
denoting sterling silver, and the date letter \'p\' for 1932.The spoons measure 13 cms long.
The combined weight is 31.1g (all approximate).One spoon is in excellent condition, the other has obviously been well used. It appears to have been bent slightly at the end and straightened, and there are surface scratched/imperfections commensurate with use.The case has some staining to the outer.
