A pair of excellent quality, Japanese Satsuma earthenware vases by Hotoda, dating to the late 19th Century. Finely painted, with main panels showing a group of samurai in one, with a group of men, women and children in the other. These are separated by panels of flowers and flying birds, all against a detailed, brocade pattern ground. The base has red painted and impressed marks. Measuring 9.75\" high and both are in perfect condition.
