PAIR ROYAL DOULTON BURSLEM HAND PAINTED BLUSH AESTHIC MOVEMENT VASES 1886-1891:

A pair of Royal Doulton Burslem, twin handled, Aesthetic Movement baluster shaped vases. The vases are hand painted in a blush style, most of the flowers and leaves are outlined, in very fine tube-lined gilding. the upper part of the vases and the bases are decorated in matte gilding in a Japanese textile style. On the bases of the vases are the Doulton Burslem printed company mark that was used between 1886-1891, which enables the vases to be dated within a five year period. In 1886 Henry Doulton was appointed Potter to HRH The Prince of Wales, and he added a coronet to the round Doulton Lambeth mark, in 1891 the USA demanded that imports show country of origin and the the word England was placed under the trade mark. The coronet, shows the vase, were produced after 1886, not having England printed below the mark means they were made before 1891. Size & condition: The vases 9\" (23 cm) tall and 3\" (7.5 cm) across the handles. Have no chips, or cracks. Some crazing to the cream background of the vases, which is commensurate with age, The gilding is in good order.

Goods may be returned within seven days of receipt of the parcel provided they are returned in the condition that they were sent in.
