AVERY GOODPAIR OF US CAVALRYHOODED STIRRUPSFOR THE US 1904 McCLELLAN SADDLE.

THEY PROBABLY WERE MADE CIRCA WORLD WAR I AND ARE THE DOUBLE PLY LEATHER SEWN TOGETHER. THE PAIR APPEARS WELL MATCHED EXCEPT THAT ONE IS DARKER THAN THE OTHER AND SHOWS A BIT MORE WEAR THAN THE OTHER WHICH IS TYPICAL. THEY WILL NEED TO BE SCRUBBED AND MAY BE MORE CLOSELY MATCHED IN COLOR AFTER PROPER CLEANING AND LEATHER TREATMENT.

THE \"US\" IS FAIRLY SHARP ON ONE AND MORE WORN OUT ON THE OTHER.

NOTE THAT THERE IS A SPLIT IN THE WOOD AND THE TROOPER OR COMPANY SADDLER PUT A BRASS NAIL ON THE SIDE TO STOP THE SPLIT. CLEARLY DONE DURING THE PERIOD OF USE.

THE LEATHER IS SOUND AND SHOW ONLY LIGHT USE. THERE AREA FEWSCRAPES AND MARKS CONSISTENT WITH FIELD USE BUT OVERALL THIS IS AN ABOVE AVERAGE SET IN TERMS OF CONDITION AND FAIRLY UNIFORMRUSSET COLOR. THE STITCHING IS PERFECT.
