This is for an ingenious old Perry\'s Victorian travelling pocketinkwell from themid to late1800s.It has a wooden surround with ametal inkwell in the middle, it locks itselfinside andslides out to stand upright in the centre, thus making it very stable. It comes complete with its originalglass bottle which fits insideand it is marked with the maker Perry & Coon the front.This type of inkwell is usually marked\'De La Rue\', Ransome\'s patent\'. Perry versions don\'t crop up very often at all, i don\'t know what the connection was between the firms, the two inkwells are identical,whether it was earlier or later than the De La Rue, or made at the same time and just marked for Perrys, i have no idea. It is in excellent condition, the bottle inside is original and intact and the inkwell slides up and out of its casing as it should, there are no dents in themetaland no damage to the wood.Closed it measures 57mm (2.25\")by 48mm nearly 2\" by15mm(0.5\") deep.Please check out all the other inkwells, treen,desktop items, pens, pencils, inkwells, clocks, lighters, vesta\'s, pipes, snuff boxes, wallets, boxes, casesand other vintage gentleman\'s accessorieswe are selling on this week.
