Personal Memoirs of U.S. Grant in two volumes, Leather Shoulder Strap Set, 1st Edition 1885

Original publisher\'s binding with 3/4 chestnut brown moroccan leather, 5 raised spine bands on each volume, and marbelized endpapers which are free of any markings. Marble end page on volume one is loose as shown in pictures. This is the only loose pages from opening the novel. All pages tight and bound in both Volumes, measure approximately 9 1/2\" x 6 1/4\".

Overall very good to excellent condition, 3/4 leather hard covers with bright gold seals, bearing image of Grant, on the front covers and title in gold on the spines and gold Mississippi state seals on the back covers. The covers show minimal shelf wear. The front and back hinges are solid minor cracking on spines as shown in pictures. All map plates are present and free of any tears. There are no handwritten names or markings on text. All fold outs are present and in very good condition with only a slight tear at the bottom edge of Lee\'s letter of surrender. Volume 1 is 584 pages, 15 maps and 2 letters. Volume 2 is 647 pages, 28 maps and Lee\'s letter of surrender.

They were NOT bought with the intention of reselling them. Since these items were for our own enjoyment, we only bought pieces that were in excellent condition.
