Afrench art decochandelier in nickel plated solid brass orbronzeby the famousParis based companyof H.Petitot Around 1932 - 34.It holds nine wonderful glasses by the famous Muller freres glass company. The bronze maker Antonin Petitot started his company in 1878. His son Henri Petitot took over in 1917. He wasn\'t a retailer at first and sold his lights to lamp shops all over France, Europe and the States. In the early days of art deco they produced preciousfixtures in high quality bronzewithshades from the best french glass factories such as Muller. In the late 30\'sthey changed their style and produced lights in a modernist look.To survive the depression their fixtures often became cheaper and oftendone in pressed brass. Theselater art decolamps had opalescent shades in bluish semi-crystalby the Ezan glass company. They certainly set a trend and nowadays lots of chandeliers are offered also on under the name of Petitot, pieces which in reality are often made by other companies such as Ranc freres Lacroix or namesnowadays forgotten. The chandelierhere on offer was first made around 1931.I show also a picture of the 1931 Petitot catalogue representing an almost identical fixture on page 9. My chandelier was produced a little later and has a straighter to my opnion better matching fixture than the 1931 version. If you would dismantle the mounting you would find that it\'s marked on several of it components with the usual Petitot initials \"AP\" for Antonin Petitot. Thefour panels as well as the square bowl are signed Muller freres Luneville. The four cups are an extremely rare Always unsigned Muller model. The chandelier has aheight of90cm(35-5/8\")anda diameter of68 cm (26-3/4\").Itis inexcellentcondition. The panels and the square bowl have some unimportant chips to the rim. None of them is visible cause hidden by the mounting. Thefixture has been replated and the lamp is newly wired. Ready to use.It holds8 european E14 candelabrasockets.I will rewire it for the US Canada and Japan with US candelabra base sockets. B22 bayonet cap sockets for France the UK or Australia arepossible as well.
