Great Recreational or Adventure Claim.Mineral Creek Mining History

Gold was first discovered along theSouth Fork of Mineral Creek in 1882 during the second gold rush of Silverton. Many rummaged the creek and mountains in search of their mineral deposit. Themost prominent mine of the area, the Bandora Mine, was established in 1890 byWilliam Sullivan and produced an abundant amount of silver ore. A year later,in 1891, a group of mining investors purchased the mine from Sullivan and theBandora Mining & Milling Company was formed. The mine continued to producerich silver ore for decades.

MineralCreek resides in the Colorado Mineral belt and is close to many of the mostproductive and famous mining towns in Colorado (Silverton, Telluride, Ouray,Creede, and Lake City). Large scale mining began to slow in the area throughoutthe mid-1900s, but independent and recreational miners continue to prospect thearea.

San Juan County has a very productive mineral history with over 1,665,000oz of lode claim gold and 500 oz troy of placer claim gold!

Here are the answers to the 10 most common questions I get asked,

1. What am I purchasing with this sale? A 100% ownership interest in this mining claim, the exclusive rights to all gold, gems, rare earth, and minerals you find on the claim. Ownership of the land is not included.

2. What is a “Mining Claim”? A mining claim gives the claimant the exclusive rights to minerals on lands owned by the citizens of the United States. Mining claims are tangible assets; they can be bought, sold, traded, leased, gifted, or willed using a quitclaim deed.

3. What is the difference between a “Lode Claim” and a “Placer Claim”? A “Lode Claim” gives the claimant exclusive rights to minerals located in rock or veins; “Placer Claim” gives the claimant exclusive rights to minerals detached from the original location. Or another way to say this would be a “Lode Claim gives you subsurface mineral rights, often there are shafts or tunnels constructed, “Placer Claim” gives you surface or just below the surface mineral rights, often a river bed or stream bed.

4. Do I have to pay a royalty to the Federal Government for the gold or minerals I find? No! A mining claim is considered “Locatable” by the Government. Locatable means you own what you find!

5. What happens if I win this sale? At no additional cost to you our legal team will prepare a notarized quitclaim deed in the name(s) you request giving you 100% ownership of this mining claim. We will send you copies of the Notice of Location, County Recordation, GPS Coordinates if applicable, and the quitclaim deed.

6. How do I get the claim in my name? At no additional cost to you we will file the quitclaim deed with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

7. Can I change the name of my claim? Yes, let me know the name you would like and I will include the completed forms for you to sign and submit to the BLM and County Recorders Office.

8. How do I know were my claim is? The claim is marked as required by federal and state laws with the discovery mount and corner mounts when needed. A copy of the “Notice of Location” is included in the mounts. GPS Coordinate’s or Public Land Survey was used as a permanent monument in locating this claim ensuring your legal rights!

9. How do I access my claim? Images of the routes you can use to get on the claim are included in the sale. Most claims are accessible by a 2 wheel drive truck and some by a car. We have decided to give you images of the access roads and any information we have to help you decide if this claim is right for you.

10. What do I have to do to keep my mining claim forever? You must pay annual maintenance fees of $155 for a lode claim, $155 per every 20 acre increment on a placer claim, or file a waiver of fee if you have less than 10 claims.
