PAINTED EARLY PRESSED GLASS SIAMESE CAT CANDY CONTAINER DRESSER HAIRPIN RECEIVER:

DESCRIPTION: This is an old pressed glass figural cat jar type container with a removable lid on its back, so you could store things inside. I don’t know if it is a candy container, but it would look good in that type of collection. It could be a desk or dresser storage box/jar, or a hair receiver or pin tray. I believe it to be quite old, possibly 19th or early 20th Century. It does not have any markings of any kind.

MATERIALS: Painted glass (It is possibly early American pressed glass?, I saw someone call a similar piece “flint glass”.)

DIMENSIONS: Measures about 7-½ inches long, and is about 6-¼ inches tall to the top of the tail.

CONDITION: Overall in good condition. It has lost a lot of its paint. If you can find any flakes, they will be tiny ones on the bottoms of the feet, and some roughness on the inside of the lid. There is wear on the bottoms of the feet that takes many years of use to make.

I am not a glass expert, but I feel like this may be a good, very early piece. It should interest cat, candy container, and dresser or desk accessory collectors.
