Available now is this stunning pair of hardwood inlaid frames with silk panel inserts.
Although the photographs do not do this antique justice please look closely to see the exquisite workmanship. Examine the quality of the workmanship in the carving, it is truly of the highest quality and without doubt would have been a custom made one-off piece.
The silk panels again are of the highest quality and would have been made in Suzhou, the city near Shanghai where are the silk was made for the Imperial Palace.
These frames are without doubt one of the best Chinese antiques I have ever owned.

Each frame is headed with an inscription which is written in very old Chinese characters which most Chinese people today cannot read.

However I have a friend who is the editor of a leading Beijing newspaper and he informs me that it reads.

\"Wuhan (city in China) followed by a family name (unknown) further followed by \"this belongs to\".
.
This indicates that this family were very famous in this city and must have been very rich, probably Mandarin.
.
These frames once formed a screen before being converted to a wall hanging and could very easily be converted back again if you so wish.
