Pair of George III Silver Bottle Coasters, a Snuffer Tray and a Pap Boat
London, Late 18th-Early 19th Century
The pair of bottle coasters, probably Benjamin Montigue, 1809, with turned wood bottoms and openwork sides with alternating urn and rosettes joined by chased floral festooning beneath an openwork and reeded border with engraved lion\'s head crest above initials in script DH, foot fully marked with maker\'s mark B.M; the snuffer tray, Henry Chawner, 1792, boat-form with a scalloped border and a strap handle chased with floral festooning centering a chased bowknot tied pendant lion crest beneath a banner NOBILIS TRA above a circular floral chased crest with crown and flowers raised on three openwork feet, underside fully marked with maker\'s mark HC; the pap boat, Peter and Ann Bateman, 1792, of typical form with punchwork and a chased everted rim, the rear of the border with chased rosette crest, fully marked with maker\'s mark PB/ AB.
