This is a magnificent pair of Japanese bronze usubata ikebana vases. Stunningly-cast with panels of Samurai warrior, sword drawn in striking pose, Daruma under pine tree, lingzhi clouds with silver moonlight over the ocean and a crazed woman fleeing. Two independent dragon handles supported on a mid section of open work pine tees which stands on a tripod-footed stand with ruyi-shaped section and scrolled feet.All mounted on a circular base.Fine inlaid silver in great detail to the figures, pine tees, borders, etc.An incredible amount of detail and superb workmanship.Also engraving of flowers and leaves to the wide flat basin.There are some geometric markings on top of the basin (possibly a maker\'s symbol).Late Edo/early Meiji period.Height 22 cms.Some scratching to the surface of the basin (possible for wear or attempt to clean), not really significant. Otherwise superb all round patination and in good condition.
