Pair of 16th century Northern French carved oakromayne-head panels, c.1540.The heads are shown inside lozenges instead of the moreusual medallion for this type of carving.
An ornamental urn stands above each lozenge while below two fabulous beasts rise from a flower head.
Originally from a coffer or cupboard.
Condition: theleft-hand panel has 1.75\" slither missing from left-hand border.The right-hand panel has old worm damage, though it is quite firm.Both have good colour and patina.
