Pair of Handpainted English Comports Coalport circa 1840

Offered for sale is an exceptionally fine pair of hand painted scenic comports. The comports are made of fine porcelain. Judging from the style, they are English, probably from Coalport, and date from around 1840. Each has a different hand painted scene in the Italian manner painted in the center. The edges are scalloped and gilded.

The tazzas measure 9 1/4 inches wide by 2 inches tall. They are marked on the base only with the painter\'s number: A4337. The pair weighs 3 lbs (shipping weight 5 lbs).

The tazzas are in very good condition. There is a very slight gold wear on the rims. One of the comports has an old tight 1 1/2 inch hairline on the foot, very hard to see even when looking for it and completely invisible when the comport is right side up. See the detail photos below.
