Description

This is a lovely pair of Edwardian glass vases with Silver collars. They could also have had a lid of some sort at one stage or could have had an insert for holding flowers which was very popular at this time. Either of these suggestions would have accounted for the need for a silver collar protecting the glass lip. The vases have been mould blown by hand, which would account for the similar size (mould) but differing weights. The four \'feet\' were probably formed from protrusions from the mould and manipulated joining the legs in the centre making this novel shape, the base has then been ground flat. There is nothing on the glass to identify the maker but it was probably made close to the silversmiths (although at the time lots of glass moved around the country by means of canal barges).
The silver collar, although warn some of the hallmarking can still be identified. There are apparently the same marks on both collars. There is a group of three marks which if read from the right I suggest: 1/ is the Leopards Head; 2/ is the Loin Passant, 3/ is the date letter. If I am correct this should show that the silver has been assayed as sterling silver in London during 1908. The larger mark on the left of these is the makers mark but unfortunately I can\'t identify this at the moment.

Condition

The pair of vases are generally in very good condition, although the silver collar shows ware and there is a hint of \'fogging\' inside the bowls (one is clear).

Size and Weight

The vases weigh about 285 and 308 grams, and are approximately 11.5 cm in height and 9 cm in diameter.

Payment

My preferred payment is through PayPal. I do not pass on PayPal fees to customers. The items I have listed through Buy-It-Now will require an immediate PayPal payment. Items I have listed through an sale will require payment within three days of the close of the sale, an unpaid item dispute will be filed if payment is not received within 8 days.

Post and Packing

I will dispatch all items as quickly as possible but certainly within two working days of receiving payment (delivery times outside the UK vary greatly from country to country).
I am happy to offer discounts on the post and packaging costs of combined sales. However, overseas customers may find that because of the pricing structure differences between Royal Mail and Overseas couriers there is very little savings on combined postage prices. If you would like a quotation please contact me prior to purchase or offerding.

UK SALES: Most items sold will be dispatch using a courier service. The courier service offers very good tracking information. Some smaller lighter objects will be dispatched using Royal Mails service. Proof of posting is always obtained.

NON UK SALES
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS
I offer international postage on most items, as priced in the listing.
Please note, import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or P and P costs. These charges are the buyer\'s responsibility. Please check with your country\'s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to offerding or buying.
Customs fees are normally charged by the shipping company or collected when you pick the item up. These fees are not additional shipping charges.

PACKAGING
Please be aware that Royal Mail and most couriers do not insure glass, pottery and many other items against breakage.
All my items are very well packed using plenty of large bubble bubble wrap and polystyrene peanuts. To save packaging costs for the customer, I mostly use recycled boxes.

Returns

I try very hard to describe all items as accurately as possible. The photos play a large part of the description. Please read the description, look at the photos carefully and ask any questions before buying to avoid disappointment. However, mistakes can be made. If the item is not as you expected, your first course of action is to email me through .

Should you wish to return the item, I will give a full refund, after the item has been returned in its original condition and in its original packaging. Return postage will not be refunded.

In the unlikely event that the item is broken I may require photographs of the damage.
