Pair Of Antique German Westerwald Salt Glazed Ring Jugs:
The detail in this pair of German Westerwald ring jugs is exceptional. From the top of their grotesque animal heads to their chunky smiling man faces, ornamental flourishes and cobalt blue salt glaze, these jugs are delightful!
The animal head noses form a loop that once hung a ring and these are missing. Based on our research, we are dating these from the late 1800's to the very start of the 1900's. The bottoms are impressed with this mark "323 D". There are no chips or cracks. One of the jugs is a smidgen taller than 9" and one is 9". Their bodies are 5" wide at the widest point and the bases are 2 5/8" wide. Thanks for looking!
