Pair of Cast Victorian Period Aesthetic Style Bronze Door Knob Backplates c.1900:

This great pair of very heavily cast Victorian Aesthetic period bronze door knob backplates was patented on June 6, 1899. I have not been able to identify the maker but they are beautifully decorated with a border of bound reeds outside a simple inner geometric pattern. For some reason that is not clear to me one of them has a larger internal hole than the other. The external holes are the same size (9/16\"). The plates are 4 1/8\" square and both have their original patina and no damage. their combined weight is 1 lb. 6 oz.
