Superb pair of Minton saucers, marked \"Eagle Japan\", with handpainted cobalt blue and ocher enamels on a creamy white background and goldenrod edge. The colors and patterns are clear and the saucers themselves are in excellent antique condition, with minor crazing upon close inspection. There also is one small chip in the center rim on one of the saucers that appears to be located exactly where one of the ware stilts for firing was located (see picture #4). Each saucer measures 5 1/8\" in diameter and stands 1\" deep. They have the well-known Minton stamp, with the registration stamp on one dating its manufacture as October 1853; the other is illegible but given it has the \"England\" stamp, it\'s manufacture is between 1891 and 1920 (it\'s the one with the small chip). Given that their manufacture was decades apart, they are remarkable in their likeness, a tribute to the quality of Minton.I did my best to capture the style and quality in pictures, and to describe the piece as completely as possible, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
