A pair of large very rare mid-century modern plates in the style of Picasso, apparently handcrafted in Mexico. Unsigned and artist unknown, but these are obviously something very special from a Palm Springs estate. I was sure they were Italian or Spanish until I managed to peel off one of the velcro adhesive strips that had been attached to the backs of both plates. I was expecting to find a Picasso signature but the only thing visible was the remnants of an \"Hecho en Mexico\" sticker with logo. I can\'t find any images of Mexican plates like these anywhere on the internet. They are in good vintage condition but there are cracks in the glaze as shown in the photos. The cracks appear to be only in the glaze and do not go through the pottery. The vivid vibrant colors are amazing and the mid-century style shouts out in an amazing way. The plates measure about 15 inches in diameter and are quite weighty. The photo posted with the close up of the rim on the underside of one of the plates shows the area where the glaze was not evenly applied; it does not appear to be a chip or other damage but rather an imperfection in the production process, adding character and individuality to the plates.
