Main Description
An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Edwardian English sterling silver candlesticks in the Arts and Crafts style; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection.
These exceptional antique Edwardian silver candlesticks, in sterling standard, have a swept square form in the classic Arts and Crafts style.
The plain hallmarked waisted cylindrical capital to each candlestick surmounts a circular rounded drip pan, embellished with an impressive chased decorated scale pattern.
The capitals are supported by plain faceted tapering columns embellished with a broad band of rivet decoration to the lower portion.
The square swept base is ornamented with further applied rivet style decorated borders which continues across the corners, segmenting additional panels of chased scale decoration.
The bases of these impressive Arts and Crafts candlesticks are weighted and are fitted with green baize to the underside.
Candlesticks in this classic style are often plain accented with rivet ornamentation; it is a fine additional feature to incorporate the decorative scale textures.
Condition
These antique Edwardian silver candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base, in addition to the part hallmarks to each capital and underside of each base are all very clear in keeping with age.
