Additional Information:  An interesting mask with edges decorated with basketwork surrounded by feathers.

The  mask in oval form is flat to the back. The elongated mask shows a carved bird on the forehead, the stylized nose and the pierced mouth and eyes. The eyes are shadowed by the raised forehead. Under the mouth , on chin  is carved a raised animal head.  All these features recall the style of the mask found in Sepik River valleys among the Papua speaking group in New Guinea.  The designs on the forehead and on the lower part of the mask are also typical of the Papua masks. Such masks were danced during the rites of initiation of youth into the manhood.

This is a superb  example of its kind with good size, much handling and a timeless patina.

For these reasons, our shipping and handling charges may be more than the price of postage.

International Shipping: We ship dozens of international orders each week, to customers on every continent except Antarctica! The shipping charges included in our listings are for U.S. orders. Contact us for shipping charges to your country. We offer uninsured USPS First Class airmail, insured Priority airmail, and insured Express airmail to most parts of the world, depending on the weight, volume, and value of an item. We also ship via FedEx or DHL on request.

Import duties, taxes, and charges are NOT INCLUDED in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer\'s responsibility. Please check with your country\'s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to offerding / buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up -- do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. And please do not ask us to mark merchandise values below value or mark items as \"gifts\"--U.S. and International government regulations prohibit such behavior.
